The short answer
Furnace financing lets you replace a furnace now and pay for it in monthly instalments instead of one lump sum. In Chestermere, Infinite Heating offers financing through Financeit, subject to Financeit's approval and terms, so you can review a monthly payment option alongside your furnace replacement quote.
Financing makes the most sense when a furnace has failed or is close to failing and waiting to save up would leave your home without reliable heat through an Alberta winter. Before you sign anything, compare the total cost of borrowing, not just the monthly payment, and make sure the furnace itself is the right one for your home. This guide explains how it works and what to check. If you are already pricing a new system, start with our furnace replacement in Chestermere page.
How furnace financing works
Furnace financing is a type of instalment loan. The basic steps are usually the same:
- You get a furnace replacement quote. A technician assesses your home and recommends a furnace size and type, with a written price for the equipment and installation.
- You apply for financing. The application goes to the financing provider, not the contractor. The provider looks at your application and decides whether to approve it and on what terms.
- You review the offer. If you are approved, the provider sets out the amount, the interest rate, the term (how many months) and the regular payment.
- The furnace is installed. The provider pays the contractor, and you repay the provider over the agreed term.
The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada explains it simply in its guide to personal loans: "When you take out a personal loan, your lender gives you a quote for your regular payment amount." The furnace financing you are offered works the same way. The provider gives you a payment amount and a term, and you decide whether it fits your budget.
The important point is that the contractor installs the furnace and the financing provider handles the loan. Infinite Heating can tell you that Financeit financing is available and help you get started, but approval, interest rates and terms come from Financeit.

When financing a furnace makes sense
Financing is a tool, not a default. It tends to make sense when:
- The furnace has failed, or is failing, at the start of winter. In Chestermere, a furnace is not optional from October to April. If repairs are no longer reasonable and your savings would not cover a replacement right away, financing lets you get reliable heat now.
- Repairs are piling up. If you are paying for a repair every few months on an older furnace, those costs can add up to a large share of a new system. Our guide to the signs you need a furnace replacement explains when a repair stops being worth it.
- You want to keep your savings for emergencies. Some homeowners can pay cash but prefer to keep a cushion for other surprises.
- You want a better furnace than your budget allows today. A properly sized, higher-efficiency furnace can be more comfortable and may use less gas over its life. Financing can bring that within reach. Just make sure the payment fits comfortably.
Financing makes less sense when:
- The furnace can still be repaired reasonably. If a technician confirms a straightforward repair will keep a younger furnace running safely, that is usually the cheaper path. Our furnace repair team will tell you honestly.
- The monthly payment would strain your budget. A furnace should not become a financial worry. If the payment is a stretch, ask about a different furnace option or a different term.
- You can comfortably pay without borrowing and would rather avoid interest.
What to compare before you sign
The monthly payment is the number everyone looks at first, but it is not the full picture. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada's advice is to "make sure you understand the total cost of a loan before making a decision." For a furnace, that means looking at:
- Total cost of borrowing. Multiply the monthly payment by the number of payments, then compare that total to the price of the furnace. The difference is what financing costs you.
- Interest rate. A lower rate over the same term means a lower total cost. The FCAC also notes that a higher interest rate "may significantly increase the total cost" of a loan.
- Term length. A longer term usually means a smaller monthly payment but a larger total cost. A shorter term costs less overall but asks more each month.
- Fees. Ask whether there are application, administration or other fees on top of the interest.
- Early payoff. Ask whether you can pay the balance off early without a penalty. Some lenders allow it and some charge a fee.
- What happens if you miss a payment. Know the consequences before you sign, not after.
The FCAC's advice is plain: "Before you sign a personal loan agreement, make sure you understand the terms and conditions." Take the time to read the agreement, and ask the provider about anything that is not clear.
Keep the furnace decision and the financing decision separate
The most useful habit when financing a furnace is to make two decisions, in order:
- Choose the right furnace for your home. Size, efficiency, venting, and the quality of the installation matter far more over the many years a furnace runs than the payment plan. A furnace that is too large or too small for the house will short cycle, wear out sooner and leave some rooms uncomfortable.
- Then decide how to pay for it. Once you know the right furnace and its installed price, look at whether paying cash, financing, or a mix makes the most sense.
Mixing the two makes it easy to pick a furnace based on what the payment looks like rather than what the home needs. Ask for the installation scope and the financing information separately, so you can judge each on its own merits.

What your furnace replacement quote should include
Financing is only as clear as the quote it is based on. Before you apply, make sure your written quote spells out:
- The furnace model, size and efficiency rating, and why that size suits your home.
- Installation scope: removal and disposal of the old furnace, venting changes, gas and electrical connections, the condensate drain on a high-efficiency furnace, ductwork changes and the thermostat.
- Permits, where a gas permit is required for the installation.
- Warranty information for the equipment, as set by the manufacturer, and what the installer covers.
- Timeline: when the furnace can be installed, and whether there will be a period without heat.

Questions to ask about furnace financing
Bring these questions to the conversation with the financing provider:
- What is the interest rate, and is it fixed for the whole term?
- What will I pay in total over the full term?
- Are there any fees on top of the interest?
- Can I pay extra, or pay the balance off early, without a penalty?
- What happens if I miss a payment?
- How long does approval usually take, and can the furnace be scheduled while I wait?
And ask your contractor:
- Is this the right size and type of furnace for my home, and why?
- Is everything I need included in the installed price?
- If financing is not approved, what are my other options?
Financing a furnace in a Chestermere winter
Timing matters in Chestermere. A furnace that fails in January leaves little room to shop around, and the coldest weeks are when installation schedules are busiest. If your furnace is older, needs frequent repairs, or a technician has flagged it as near the end of its life, it is worth getting a replacement quote and looking at financing in the fall, before the first deep cold. A planned replacement gives you time to compare furnace options, read the financing terms properly and pick an installation date that suits you, rather than making every decision in a single cold evening.
If your furnace is still running well, regular furnace maintenance is the best way to stretch its life and put off a replacement for as long as it is safe to do so.
